Brackets In this PDF document
(198KB) a variety of Bracket expansions are looked at. It contains many
forms that once learnt can save much time. It should be suitable for any
interested pupils aged 14 or above who enjoy independent investigations.
Create Quadratics
This is a small stand-alone Visual Basic program Quad.exe
(68KB) that I have written. It has been written with two purposes in mind
(1) To find the solutions to any quadratic equation that has real roots given
the three coefficient values a, b and c.
(2) To begin with three chosen ranges of the coefficients a, b and c and then
to find all possible quadratic equations that may be fully factorised given
the coefficient ranges. This ability is quite useful for any teacher wishing
to generate quadratic equations or expressions that will definitely factorise!
A list of quadratic expressions together with (or without) their respective
factorised forms can be written to a textfile for later printing / modifiying,
etc.
Simply click on the above link to download the file onto your machine and
then double-click on the filename to run it. Click here
to see a picture of the Create Quadratics dialogue box.
Create Sequences (added
08/04/05) NEW
This is an Excel file that creates any sequence up to and including quadratic
sequences. The sequence is written onto a grid of any size required (Actually
the largest grid allowed is 100 by 100) and patterns can be chosen on the
grid, rules applied to them and values calculated as the pattern is moved
around the grid! It's VERY flexible! Click here
to see pictures and downloads.
